A Good Place To Start

I was raised with a negative point of view. Everything and everyone was out to get me. Not until I got older did I realize how much this negative way of thinking affected almost every aspect of my life. When I met my husband and some other friends, I realized that others did not think this way and I set forth to find out HOW they did it.
This book explains it. Plain and simple - they think positively.
The book outlines how people with a negative outlook see life - almost all in a negative light - therefore creating negative outcomes, causing bad health and an overall sense of despair. Learning to train your brain to think positively takes work and it's a daily, almost minute-by-minute, chore. But it's worth it to be happier and healthier.
I especially liked the section "Practicality". Many times a negative person simply doesn't understand others positive behavior and we (as negatives) think "Oh, I just need to ACT happy all the time!" Too often, that means we avoid the sad feelings that come with bad situations because it's not a "positive" response. However, that isn't the answer at all. This chapter sheds light on what it means to think positive, but not squelch your feelings in hard circumstances.
I would have liked more examples of how to think positively on a daily basis... perhaps a follow-up book! But overall, this was a good, fast read and gave me many things to consider.

Oh, my, where to begin... ...

Oh, my, where to begin...this is the most poorly written "book" I've ever seen. I had to stop reading it in chapter 1. There is at least one typo per page. This is on top of the grammatical errors. This book proves that anyone can be published. Large font; large margins; was a middle school writing a theme paper here? I would have returned this over-priced pamphlet, but I only started reading it months after I bought it. The only appropriate place for it now is the trash. Caveat emptor, indeed.
