Scott Gallagher
Scott Gallagher has been fascinated with technology since he played Oregon Trail in elementary school. His love continued through middle school as he worked on more Apple IIe computers. In high school, he learned how to build computers and program in BASIC! His college years were all about server technologies such as Novell, Microsoft, and Red Hat. After college, he continued to work on Novell, all while maintaining an interest in all the technologies. He then moved into managing Microsoft environments and eventually into what he was most passionate about―Linux environments. Now, his focus is around Docker and cloud environments.

With a title like "Mastering Docker", you might think that this was going to be a deep technical tour of Docker and how it all works. The author makes heavy use of examples that compel the reader to use docker-machine & vagrant without explaining much of what's going on. The book seems to be a series of "hey look at me" walk-throughs without a lot of depth. I'm disappointed.

The book is overall fine, but in my opinion more in a "cookbook" style, than an in-depth guide to the inner workings of docker.
On the positive side, there is a comprehensive coverage of docker commands and subcommands, but I suspect it will become updated soon..

If you have basic knowledge on Docker then this book can help you go next level. It has good examples overall. So good book if you want to upgrade yourself with Docker.
