Delicious treats!

Ketogenic diet is basically high-fat low-carb diet. That is, of course, very oversimplified but just for the basic info for those that don't know.
I don't follow keto diet but I understand the principles and they make a lot of sense. I tried it for a brief time like practically everything that comes my way regarding to eating regimes, but I didn't stick with it. That being said, this dessert book has some seriously mouthwatering recipes. They are all high in fat and low in carbs so keep that in mind if you are incorporating them into your meal plans – and you should because they are absolutely delicious. It is very hard to not eat just those desserts for every meal, believe me.
As far as I'm concerned, this is a must-have dessert recipe book, ketogenic or not. It is down to the taste of them and that is top notch.

Contrary to popular belief, a diet which consists of high fat and low carb intake is one of the most effective for weight loss (as long as the fats are saturated). This book contains plenty of high-fat, low-carb dessert recipes that will fuel your body during the state of ketosis, control your cravings and satisfy your taste buds. I only tried a few of them, but I must say, they were delicious. You won't regret getting this book, whether you're on a ketogenic diet or not.

The things I loved about ketogenic diet is that the recipes are jam-packed with all the nutritional values that you can think of. Some of the wonderful low carb diets are new to me and thought I'd give it a try. All I want for my family is to have a healthy and sedentary lifestyle. Best of the Series

PJVs QUICKIE POV: My favorite of the Pendragon Series, Primal Pleasures was a treat to read.

REVIEW: At the end of Book 2 Sorcha and Cale have tracked down the sorceress that they think bespelled Cale's brother Cian. They have drug her back to their family home and chained her to the gargoyle form of Cian until she undoes the spell that has turned him to stone for 100 years.

Poor Emma is pretty used to be mistaken for her sister Elena, so this scenario is nothing new to her. Her more powerful sister is also a little quick on the draw and has a habit of getting herself into trouble and waiting for Emma to come in and clean it up. Emma doesn't know how she is going to clean up this mess though. Chained to a very fierce looking gargoyle she resigns herself to just sit their and wait for someone to come and get her out of the pickle her sister put her in. What she doesn't expect is the gargoyle to wake up and she comes face to face with a very male and very sexy man - that is pretty angry with her, but also strangely attracted to her.

To protect her sister she can't tell him the truth - but as they try to shake the curse and enemies are popping up around every corner, she is finding it harder and harder to resist him and keep up the charade.

Great story, best of all three. I'm now a total fan girl of Ms. Somers and I think I might have a bit of reading to catch up on! I really like the characters in this one, I like Emma's vulnerability, which I'm usually not fond of, but it totally worked in this one. I also like that they thought their attraction was caused by a curse so they resisted it, instead of going head over tail into the whole mate thing. Definitely worked for me.

The one thing I'm kind of up in the air about this whole series is that there is so much to this world that I believe this series can be so much more. It can be expanded on and pushed to a new level. It is very original and quite an epic idea that I really believe that they might have been better served as full length paranormal romance novels. They have these listed as category length, which I'm not sure what that is - but basically I think it is not a short story, but not quite a full novel. Novella??

RECOMMENDATIONS: Adults only. Paranormal Romance fans, shifter fans should enjoy. The price is cheap too, so don't worry about splurging. Listed for $3.60 on amazon.com

Emma is a sorceress and the "good twin" who is always suffering the fallout of her twin's escapades. This time she finds herself chained to a gargoyle that her sister cursed to remain in stone a century ago. But now, something magical is happening and the curse seems to be broken...for now. The gargoyle is sure to want revenge on Emma, whom he believes cursed him, but he finds himself inexplicably attracted to her.

Cian, the gargoyle that has been in stone form for the past century believes that his attraction to Emma is a result of an enchantment spell that she has cast on him in order to save her own skin. But his cat believes she is actually his mate. When Emma escapes from Cian before he can figure out how to deal with her, he vows to track her down one way or another. But once he catches up with her he finds her on the hunt for her sister and in a whole heap of trouble herself. Emma strikes up a bargain with Cian to find her sister, one that could potentially break her heart since she is falling for the sexy shifter.

Primal Pleasure starts out strong and as always with a Somers book, very, very sexy. Cian has been in stone form for a hundred years but now that the curse is lifted his lust for Emma overrides his desire for revenge. He is instantly protective over the sexy sorceress even though he assumes his attraction is the result of an enchantment spell. But his attraction to her rides him so hard, he doesn't fight it much. He wants Emma and even though she knows she's flirting with some serious danger, Emma is extremely attracted to Cian as well.

Somewhere in the middle of the book the story begins to sag a little. Not to the point where I was bored, not at all, but I felt that the hunt for the sister was drawn out a little and the lack of the presence of the villain until very late in the book caused the pace to slow a little too much. All of the main action and big revelations happen fairly late in the story so the only real danger for the protagonists seemed to come from each other.

Cian and Emma make a great couple and their chemistry is so very sexy. I liked that even though both had reason to avoid falling for the other they didn't waste a huge amount of time resisting each other. The loving relationship does not come easy for them since they have some things to overcome but I liked that they both found each other so appealing even when they shouldn't.

I've read all three books in Sydney Somers' Pendragon Gargoyle series and while I enjoyed Primal Pleasure very much, it was not my favorite in the series. However, I can certainly say it is still a recommended read. Sydney Somers writes love stories with a sexy edge that keeps me coming back for more. Certain revelations near the end of Primal Pleasure leave me eagerly anticipating a second chances romance.

The third book in the Pendragon Gargoyles series is another hit. This book is Cian and Emma's story.

Cian was locked in stone for a century due to Emma's twin sister. Cian get's released from the stone due to Emma (they are mates). Neither Emma or Cian realize they are mated, they think her sister enchanted him and that is why he want's Emma. Cian also doesn't realize that Emma is not the one who cast him in stone for a century.

Emma has been promised to a powerful sorcerer, but Emma doesn't want him.

This was a great story that makes it hard to wait for the next one in this amazing series!

The new class

About the Author
Sagini Jared Keengwe is a Professor of Teaching and Learning at the College of Education and Human Development, University of North Dakota (UND), USA. Keengwe is the editor-in-chief of two IGI Global Book Series: Advances in Higher Education and Professional Development (AHEPD) and Advances in Early Childhood and K-12 Education (AECKE). Keengwe has published over 85 journal articles, book chapters, and books with a focus on active learning pedagogies and mobile learning technologies in education. Keengwes work was honored with the 2011 UND McDermott Faculty Award for Excellence in Academic Advising. He was also a recipient of the 2010 North Dakota Spirit Faculty Achievement Award, and the 13th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Award in recognition of significant contribution in scholarship and service respectively. At the national level, Keengwe was one of the 10 recipients selected to receive the 2010 American Educational Research Association (AERA) Teacher Education Travel Award.

Daphne du Maurier (1907 - 89) was born in London, the daughter of the famous actor-manager Sir Gerald du Maurier and granddaughter of George du Maurier, the author and artist. A wonderfully dark and suspenseful gothic tale

Before I start my review, a word of warning if you buy Kindle versions of Daphne Du Maurier's books:

Some unscrupulous entity has been selling shortened and reworded Kindle versions of Du Maurier's books. There is nothing in the product description that states that it's not the authentic version of the book. These versions are meant to deceive the buyer. Amazon posts the same reviews to both the real versions of the books and the fake versions, even though they are not at all the same product. To be sure you are buying the legitimate Kindle edition, check the product details to make sure you are buying the version published by Little, Brown, and Company and sold by Hachette Book Group.

My review of Jamaica Inn: Jamaica Inn was first published 80 years ago, but it has held up well. Du Maurier does a great job of making the English moor into a dark and forbidding place. The days are short. The rain is constant. The rocks are large and sharp. One false step and hidden bogs will suck you down to your death. The Inn itself is cold and damp, rundown and isolated. Life is difficult. Du Maurier populates her story with complex and fascinating characters - a young and innocent leading lady, her violent and alcoholic uncle, her meek and abused aunt, a charming and dangerous horse thief, a violent gang of criminals that lures ships to their doom on the rocky shore, and an albino (!) vicar. There's plenty of violence, but it's not as explicit as it would be in a book written today. It was fascinating to see how her situation affected our young heroine. The ending left me with a lot to think about. I heartily recommend Jamaica Inn if you are a fan of gothic suspense. The writing may seem a little bit dated by today's standards, but it's a quick read and Du Maurier is terrific author.

Daphne du Mauier is an absolutely beautiful writer who is very easy to read. If you want to get into modern classics she is definately a good place to start.

The premise and set up of this book was absolutely great. You are quickly sucked into this mysterious world of gangsters and dread. I could actually feel myself walking through the forests and sitting inside Jamaica Inn. It is a medium paced story and I was never bored and interested throughout the novel.

The reason why I gave this a 3 star read was because I figured out the mystery while I was reading it. This could be perhaps because I do read quite a lot. I also didn't love a part of the ending with respect to the main character and her love interest.

I really do feel that she gave up so much of herself to be with a person that frankly didn't treat her too well or just wasn't giving her the things that she wanted in life. It seemed too whimsical and fluttery of you ask me.

Overall it was a great book and I definitely recommend reading it especially if you like atmospheric books where you can get completely lost in.

Jamaica Inn by the English writer Daphne du Maurier is a classic. The story begins with 20 year-old Mary Yellan making her way to Jamaica Inn in a horse drawn coach, the darkness of the moors and the beating rain making her very anxious.

Mary lived on a farm in Helford but had to leave after her mother died. As she was dying she asked Mary to go live with her Aunt Patience at Jamaica Inn. The journey to her aunt is anything but comforting.

Upon arrival Mary finds her aunt a different person fro the sparkling, witty laughing woman she remembered. Aunt Patience seems aged 50 years and mutters constantly. She is clearly frightened of something and Mary comes to realize very quickly what, or shall I say who, is the reason. Mary’s Uncle Joss is a wicked man and he has illegal business affairs right there at the inn.

The plot follows a group of murderous wreckers, Joss seemingly one who is in charge. They run ships aground using lanterns on the shore and kill the sailors then steal the cargo. Jamaica Inn is never open to the public yet every few weeks men come in the dark of the night, silently unloading carts of merchandise they have stolen from the wrecked ships.

Mary foolishly becomes attracted to Joss’s younger brother, Jem. She realizes Jem does not have anything to do with her uncle’s murderous business although he is a horse thief.

One day Mary decides to track her uncle across the moors so she can report the lot of them to the law. But it gets dark earlier than she thought it would and Mary is stranded, cold and wet and alone in the dark. Miraculously a horse drawn buggy comes along and she is rescued. Francis Davey, an albino vicar who lives in the next village, picks Mary up and takes her to his home. She tells the vicar the improbable tale of her uncle’s business expecting him to help her. He instead points out some weak points in her story and suggests she is letting her imagination get away from her.

There is much more but if you haven’t read Du Maurier’s classic, I don’t want to give away the rest of the story. Soon I would like to read her other popular book, Rebecca.

Seifer's vivid, revelatory, exhaustively researched biography rescues pioneer inventor Nikola Tesla from cult status and restores him to his rightful place as a principal architect of the modern age. Based largely on firsthand documents including Tesla's writings, his patents and those of competitors, it credits the Croatian-born Serb, who moved to New York in 1884, with the invention of the induction motor, long-distance electrical power distribution, fluorescent and neon lights, the first true radio tube and remote control, besides making vital contributions to the technology underlying television, wireless communication, robotics, lasers, the facsimile machine and particle-beam weaponry anticipating the space-based "Star Wars" defensive shield. Though often depicted as a recluse, flamboyant nouveau-riche Tesla (1856-1943) lived in Manhattan's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel for two decades, and hobnobbed with architect Sanford White, Mark Twain, Rudyard Kipling, conservationist John Muir, mogul John Jacob Astor III, Swami Vivekananda. Yet the electronic wizard, who competed fiercely with Marconi and with his one-time employer Edison, became swamped in debt, abandoned by a world he helped create, ending his days in seedy poverty, a bitter, anorexic eccentric obsessed with feeding pigeons and avoiding germs. Seifer, who teaches psychology at Community College of Rhode Island, attributes Tesla's downfall partly to his megalomaniacal, neurotic, self-destructive tendencies, partly to a quagmire of litigation and also to his Faustian pact with his ambivalent benefactor, Wall Street financier J. Pierpont Morgan, to whom he relinquished control of several patents. Nikola Tesla is credited by many as the inventor of radio and should have received most of the credit for the development of modern electricity. Yet there is considerable confusion about his technical contributions and even more about his personal life. This book, by a professor of psychology at Bristol Community College and a member of the International Tesla Society, painstakingly documents Tesla's wide-ranging contributions. Born in Croatia, Tesla emigrated to the United States in 1884 and almost immediately began work on alternatives to what was then accepted as standard electrical technology. This brought him into conflict with Edison and later Westinghouse. The pattern of conflict continued for nearly 60 years, partially because Tesla was far ahead of his time, partially because he was erratic and off-beat, and partially because he was not an astute business partner. Seifer has analyzed extensive sources, many not previously used by other Tesla biographers, to provide a detailed interpretation of his life, but the fact that he also incorporates extensive handwriting analysis to arrive at several of his conclusions will certainly cause some reader concern. Very comprehensive but a tedious read

This book gave good insight into Tesla, but the writing is very confusing and it lacked a good thread. There was no good story line or real purpose. I am left confused as to what Tesla accomplished vs what he could have.

If aniline knows of a better book, please advise.

Don't know who Nikola Tesla is? Time to find out. This genius brought the modern to modern life. Life as you and I live it would not be possible without the contributions of this man who lived passionately and died abandoned by the world he created. An amazing story. Well worth the read.

Very Interesting Read

I bought this book after watching Ancient Aliens on the History Channel. Aside from that, I think some people are so intelligent, that they can't be human, and are placed on earth to teach the human kind. May sound dumb to you but nevertheless I bought this book to see if they mentioned anything about any supernatural events in his life that would justify my belief. I read the book on my lunch hour and have only gotten into about the first 30 years of his life; when he was working for Edison. This book is very informative from the very beginning, presenting the facts of his life. It is easy reading and keeps me interested. This man truly was a genius.
