I rarely if ever write customer reviews, but felt I needed to for this book. Over the past two years I've become more and more of a swimmer. Living in LA, swimming is the perfect after work de-stresser; the chance to be alone in the water is priceless. I swim in a public pool and from time to time some other swimmer will enter and just fly past me and I've had no practical way to understand how. There's the ego thing of my wanting to go faster, but that honestly falls away. What I've begun to understand is a blissful technique through this book series. This Ultimate Guide is by far the best - a compilation of all the rest. Initially I was resistant to my own urge to change, finding some of the new approaches too demanding of attention - I was here to chill out, but with time several things have happened:
- the techniques have become more unconscious
- attention to form and technique is itself a meditative practice, allowing me to be present
- I've had a blast
- I'm demonstrably faster and more powerful in the water

The book is clear, the videos are perfect (I read/watch on my laptop) and Mark's voice is ever encouraging, ever positive.

If you're interested in making the most of your time swimming, invest in this book. You'll be so happy you did.

This is a wonderful book! Many wise insights into the deeper levels of thought and 'beingness'.
I would highly recommend this book for students of life as well as for students at any level of martial arts training.
The author connects and demystifies the spiritual aspects to the physical principles.

This book is well thought out and couldn't have com out at better time. When much of the world is focused on the physical aspects of martial arts and the spot light is on cage fighters, the internal aspects of martial arts needed to be brought to the forefront again. Refreshing read that will motivate and encourage experienced and new practitioners alike.

About the Author
Russell Jones was born in Wales and completed his B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. He spent one year as a postdoctoral fellow at the Michigan State University before being appointed to the faculty of the Department of Botany at the University of California at Berkeley in 1966. He is now a Professor of the Graduate School at UC–Berkeley. 

Helen Ougham has a B.A. in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. She has carried out research in plant science for over 25 years at the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research and Aberystwyth University, and she teaches regularly on graduate courses in genetics and genomics at the University of Birmingham and in crop science at the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies, Zaragoza.

Howard Thomas studied at Aberystwyth University and is a DSc in the University of Wales. He was head of cell and molecular biology research and member of the management board at the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research. He has held visiting professorships at the Universities of California, Bern and Zurich and is currently Emeritus Professor of Biology at Aberystwyth University.

Susan Waaland earned a B.A. in Biology at Earlham College in Indiana and a Ph.D. in Botany at the University of California at Berkeley. She was an NIH postdoctoral fellow at the University of Washington and continued there as a faculty member in Botany and Biology. She spent a year in the Botany Department at the University of California at Davis through the NSF Visiting Professorships for Women Program. She is now an Emeritus Lecturer in Biology at the University of Washington.

This is an excellent update of the classical Plant Biochemistry - Buchannan, which the people had beeen awaiting since many years.

The new approach is very good, covering the Physiology and BioChemistry of the different stages of the plant growth.

I fully recomend this book, maily for Agronomist and Biologist interested in something more than flowers or fruits.

Superbly done, invaluable up-to-date resource

Simply put, this book is excellent: up-to-date; well written; superbly illustrated; containing both broad and in-depth coverage of a wide range of topics in plant biology. One suggestion for a future edition would be to include literature references upon which the presented material is based. I highly recommend this book to anyone needing immediate access to modern topics in plant biology.

Great book to get into the topic

This is an in depth book for wana be plant physiologists. It takes some patience and a bit of molecular background to appreciate the detail. For me it was a great resource after working in a none related field to get a good taste of plant physiology and molecular biology. Some of the chemistry and genetics are over my head but you can't know everything. Well worth the money.

The text reads well and introduces difficult concepts in a more easy-to-understand way. It is definitely worth the money to help you get through the module, If you are doing a research project in pharmaceutical design then this would also be an excellent buy.’

Valuable workbook for 'Trauma and the Therapist' text

Let there be no doubt that this book and it's companion text 'Trauma and the Therapist' is a book written for professionals, not for lay persons. While some laypersons who enjoy and understand heavy psychological reading may thoroughly enjoy both books, this work book is geared toward the trauma encountered by the therapist (vicarious traumatization) while treating victims of severe abuse. It is not geared toward the client. It is about time that someone write a book and workbook for the professional who can endure as much trauma, vicariously, as the victim, particularly if treating a number of abuse victims. The impact on the professional had been ignored for two long. This workbook is written for the professional mental health provider more than the client. As is it's companion text. It is a terrific workbook if viewed with that perspective.

Helpful book for clinicians needing self care

This book was recommended to me because I was looking for ideas for self care to cope with working with the sex offender population. The book provides useful information on vicarious traumatization, how to recognize it, and ways to manage it. I am an Art Therapist and it has some creative and expressive techniques to handle feelings of vicarious traumatization that working with the abused or offender populations can bring up.

An outstanding program for workplaces.

I have used this workbook for years in the field of continuing education for human service professionals. The activities are without exception always well received and truly helpful to participants. Very few books present the facilitator steps so clearly. This book is appropriate for any organization that serves people in crisis or trauma. I don't see how you could go wrong if you follow the format pesented.
